Marlene T. Unkraut, 90, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Green Creek with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to E.A.R.S. or Crisis Nursery of Effingham County. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Marlene was born on September 1, 1934, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Albert and Catherine (Dust) Fuesting. She married Joseph C. Unkraut on May 25, 1955, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2012.
Marlene had a love of music and was an organist at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham for over 60 years.
Marlene is survived by her daughter, Janet M. Miller (Avery) of Perryville, MO; granddaughters, Rachael Bullard (Dan) of Pasadena, MD, Kristen Allen of Effingham, Courtney Quinn (Blake) of Paducah, KY, and Paige Miller of Perryville, MO; great-grandchildren, Braylee Bullard and Hunter Bullard; and siblings, Monica Frey of Effingham, Judy Jansen of Effingham, and Don Fuesting (Judy) of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; brother, Bill Fuesting; and brothers-in-law, John Frey and John Jansen.
