Marlene Zigmond

Marlene Zigmond (nee Absher), age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May23, 2025.

Marlene was born in Chicago, IL on July 25, 1936. Marlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid reader and loved Sudoku puzzles. Marlene cherished time spent with her family and had a smile that lit up the room. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marlene is survived by her loving children, Liz Lopina, Pat (Joe) Pietro, Debbie (Gene) Butt, Mike (Sheri) Zigmond, Sandy Zigmond, and Michelle Kolb; grandchildren, Kevin (Bianca) Pietro, Kyle (Shaina) Pietro, Nicole (Sean) Delaney, Matt Zigmond, and Sam Zigmond; great-grandchildren, Angelina, Cecelia, Pasquale, Owen, Luna, and Elliot Pietro, and Lorelai Delaney; sister, Kaye Swinford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, John Zigmond; grandson, Jacob; and sisters, Bobbi and Wilma.

A visitation for Marlene will be held from 9:30am until the time of mass at 10:30am on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Burial to follow at Randhill Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s name can be made to the Ronald McDonald House charity.
