Marlin B. Murphy 'Murph'
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of husband and father Marlin 'Murph' Murphy on July 1, 2024, surrounded by his family. Murph was a family man, businessman, veteran and a friend to many. Murph was born in Loveland Colorado on February 12th, 1941, to Burl Murphy and Irene Malm. They moved to Salina Kansas later relocating to Green River Wyoming, where he graduated from high school. He spent time at the University of Wyoming before transitioning into the army. After his time-of-service Murph worked construction and later fulfilled his goal of going into business for himself- Murph's Texaco Service Station in Green River. His time off was spent with his beloved wife Lorna as they started a family.
His love of horses was a hobby he shared with his children. Also, an avid hunter and dog lover. For further opportunities he moved his family to Grand Junction, Colorado where they expanded their participation in showing horses and his participation in the racing world with his treasured thoroughbred stallion Bold Sullivan. Murph went into business once again with the lease of Airport Conoco and Orchard Conoco Service Stations. Murph and family finally settled in Bloomfield, New Mexico with the lease of Gopher Foods and later the ownership of Murph's Automotive. He gave his family the opportunity of enjoying fishing/boating on the nearby lakes and hours of incredible ATV rides. Murph's favorite trips were in the mountains near Silverton Colorado.
Survivors are his loving wife of 60 years Lorna of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Son Brian of Red Mesa, Colorado, Daughter Michelle of Walnut Creek, California, Daughter Janeen of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Grandson Aaron & family of Farmington, New Mexico, Granddaughter Brianna & family of Farmington, New Mexico, Granddaughter McKenzie of Bloomfield, New Mexico and two sweet Great Granddaughters Paisley and Adonai. Our father gave us so much and was always there for us, as he was for many others. He had the 'gift of gab' and could always be found in conversation. His impact on our lives will be cherished and those memories will be in our hearts forever. At Murph's request there will be no funeral services and ask that he be remembered for his legacy of hard work and fun-loving personality. In lieu of the flowers donations can be made in Murph's name to the American Lung Association.
