LIVESTREAM LINK FOR MARLIN C. VERSTEEG Marlin C. VerSteeg, 90, of Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa. Pastor Don Tisthammer will officiate. Private family burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Services will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website with the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. Marlin was born on November 6, 1934 to Guy and LuLu (Miller) VerSteeg at Hull, Iowa. He graduated from Slayton High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Jean Woelber on August 9, 1959 at Breckenridge, Minnesota. Marlin worked for Lemke Food Town in Paullina and Wilson Foods in Cherokee, Iowa. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa. He was also a member of A.F. & A.M. Speculative Lodge #307, Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City, Iowa. He served on the Cleghorn City Council and sat on the board for the Cleghorn Community Center. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, traveling with his wife Jean, and tractor rides. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, brother Roger (Mary Ann) VerSteeg, sister Mary (Bob) Johnson, mother-in-law and father-in-law Martha and Herman Woelber, brothers-in-law Jon Spang, Del Woelber, Don Woelber, and Edwin Duer, sister-in-law Vonnie Woelber, nephews Rick Gass and Robb Gass, and niece Joan Naber. Marlin is survived by his two sons, Mark and Julie VerSteeg of The Villages, Florida and Jeff and Theresa VerSteeg of Spirit Lake, Iowa; sisters Donna (Duane) Gass and Linda Spang; sisters-in-law Lavonne Duer; and Sugar Woelber; also many nieces and nephews.
