Jean VerSteeg, 86, of Cleghorn, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, March 13, 2025 at her residence in Cleghorn.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Jean was born on January 26, 1939 to Herman and Martha (Vagts) Woelber at Pipestone, Minnesota. She attended Breckenridge Schools and graduated in 1957. Jean went to Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota and she graduated from Buena Vista College, receiving her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She was united in marriage on August 9, 1959 to Marlin VerSteeg at Breckinridge, Minnesota.
She taught school in St. Paul, Minnesota, Germantown, Iowa, Cherokee, and Meriden, Iowa. She retired in 1995.
Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Cleghorn, Iowa. She was active in Bridge Clubs and on the Cleghorn Community Library Board.
In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, reading, traveling with her husband, Marlin.
She was preceded in death by parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Guy and Lu VerSteeg, brothers Don (Vonnie) Woelber and Del Woelber, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Edwin Duer, Roger and Mary Ann VerSteeg, Bob and Mary Johnson, and Jon Spang, niece Joan Naber and nephews Rick Gass and Rob Gass.
Jean will lovingly be remembered by husband Marlin VerSteeg; sons Mark and Julie VerSteeg of The Villages, Florida, Jeff and Theresa VerSteeg of Spirit Lake, Iowa; sister Lavonne Duer; sister-in-law Sugar Woelber; sisters-in-law Donna (Duane) Gass and Linda Spang; many nieces and nephews.
