Marlon was born in Bucaramanga Colombia; at that time he had two older sisters, Claudia and Erika. He spent the first six years of his life in Colombia and came to the United States in November of 1991 when he was adopted into the Searle family where he joined his younger brother Jordan who was adopted from Colombia in 1989.

As a child, Marlon was energetic, curious, and happiest when he was outdoors. He loved being outside, playing with siblings and friends, and immersing himself in adventure. Those qualities carried naturally into his time in scouting where he earned his Eagle Scout Award.

He found fulfillment working with his hands and took pride in honest, hard work. Marlon was employed by Wilson Construction, where he valued the time he spent working alongside Larry Wilson and his colleagues. In recent years, he became self-employed, taking on home remodels, working with investors who flipped houses, and tackling any project that came his way. He had a natural ability to look at a job and simply get to work, becoming a true jack of all trades. Creating, fixing, and building brought him a sense of purpose.

Friendship meant a great deal to Marlon. He maintained close bonds with friends he met in high school, including Bryce Rypien, Austin Hermansen, Derrick Marchant, Kyle Anderson, and Spencer Andrus. These friendships endured through the years, and they were always there for him-standing by him with loyalty, laughter, and support.

Marlon was a devoted uncle who cared deeply for his nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with them, making them laugh, encouraging them, and showing up in the ways that mattered.

While Marlon struggled to find happiness in this world, he never stopped being kind, loving, or giving of himself. We take comfort in believing that he is now reunited with loved ones and has finally found the peace that eluded him here-a peace he so deeply deserved.

Marlon is survived by his parents, Ned and Kathy Searle; his siblings Claudia Navas, Erika Navas, Sara (Zane) Rasmussen, Katie (Thomas) McMinn, Erica Searle, Heidi (Gareth) Sheridan, Jordan (Jennifer) Navas, Shaquan Searle, Taylor Searle, Maya Searle, Bethlehem Searle, and Kidist Searle; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A Celebration of Life will take place on January 14, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, The Gathering Hall (North Building) 4306 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
