Marsha Byce Mahalak, 69, of Lincoln, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at her home.
Born August 31, 1956, to Dale E. and Elinor (Huffman) Byce in Alpena, she was raised in Lincoln. Marsha enjoyed a long career in Insurance, and owned and operated All Risk Insurance Agency from 2002 through 2024. She joined the Village of Lincoln Council in 2016, and was sworn in as Village Treasurer on December 7, 2020. She added the role of Zoning Administrator in October 2021. She was a member of the Barton City Eagles Club. Marsha loved spending time with family, especially her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most affectionately known as Grama, Bird Grama, or Gerdie, she loved to be outdoors planting flowers. She was often found working on a fundraiser to help the Village of Lincoln achieve a new well, a pavilion or other improvements at the playground. She began collecting cans and bottles in 2019, and funded the “One Dime at a Time” Pavilion at the Flights of Imagination Playground in Lincoln. She was always up for any road trip or camping trip with the kids and grandkids.
Marsha is survived by her daughter, Michele (Ron) Wambold of Harrisville, her grandson, Brett (Destinee) Wambold of Lincoln, her granddaughters, Kaylee (Ashton) and Jena (Derby), great grandchildren, Emilia and Weston Wambold, two sisters-in-law, Kathy Jo and Stephanie, her beloved canine companion, Molly, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friends for life, Larry and Linda Somers, and her dear friend Christine Skuse of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale and Charles Byce.
Private services have been held. Arrangements were through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial donations are suggested to the Village of Lincoln “Marsha’s Pavillion Fund”.
