Marsha Cabbage Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davenport Funeral Home, Inc. - Walhalla/West Union on Oct. 28, 2025.
Marsha Smith Cabbage, 84, wife of Gary Cabbage, of Seneca, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Cabbage was the daughter of the late Rene and Beaulah Bates Smith. From an early age, she possessed a deep love for the Lord and a passion for music that would shape her life and ministry. She attended Georgia College for Women, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Music Therapy, later continuing her studies to receive two master's degrees, one from University of Georgia in Rehabilitation Counseling, and the other from Emory University in Christian Education. Mrs. Cabbage dedicated her gifts to serving the Lord through music. Over the years, she faithfully led and inspired countless congregations as a choir director and organist, most recently with St. John's Lutheran and The Episcopal Church of the Ascencion. She was also a proud member of the American Guild of Organists and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cabbage is survived by her children: Deede Edmondson (Robert); Brent Fields; Ginger Huber (Chris); grandchildren: Meredith Bean, and Rob Edmondson; and beloved family friends: Rob Peirce, and Kim Bradley.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cabbage was preceded in death by her brother and sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on November 2, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Walhalla. For those unable to attend, the service will be available online at Stjohnswalhalla.org.
