Donald Earl Cabbage, 96, of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday, December 2, at his home. Mr Cabbage was a native of Indianapolis and attended Public School #75, #52, and Washington High School in Indianapolis. Then moved to Waveland in 1945 and graduated from Waveland High School in 1947.

He was born at home in Indianapolis on November 27, 1929, to James Arthur and Marcia Wyne Cabbage. He married Martha Joe Walker on January 1, 1950, at Waveland Christian Church. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2025.

Before moving to Crawfordsville, he worked as a pin setter at a bowling alley, then worked in a bakery before and after school. He would deliver groceries for Banges Grocery Store on evenings and Saturdays in his early years in Indianapolis.

After moving to Waveland, Mr Cabbage was a farmer's helper before going to work at RR Donnelley & Sons, where he worked in various departments for 41 years.

He entered the US Air Force in December 1951 during the Korean Conflict. After basic training, he became an Air Force Policeman in the USAF Security Forces. He was stationed in Japan for 18 months. He attained the Rank of Staff Sergeant by the time of his discharge in 1955.

He is survived by a half-brother, Wildren Poland of Shelbyville; 1 niece and 1 nephew; 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew. His stepfather, Wildren Poland, is deceased.

He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. A member of the Donnelley Club, American Legion, and Crawfordsville Gun Club. He enjoyed studying God's Word and was an avid reader.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 5 at Oak Hill Cemetery Grant Ave, with Pastor Nathan Chambers officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Twin Lakes Camp, 1451 E. Twin Lakes Rd., Hillsboro, IN 47949
