Marsha Kay Chatham

Marsha Kay Miller Chatham, born in 1951, in Dalton, GA, was sent to her eternal home on December 5th, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she was happily married to for all of 46 years, Michael D. Chatham; As well as her parents, F.M. and Gertrell M. Miller, and her Brother, David Miller.

Marsha is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Jeff Shrewsberry. Marsha was the cherished grandmama of her grandchildren, Amber, Jacob, Erin, Macie, and her great-granddaughter, Violet. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, who adored her dearly. Among them are Lisa and Sean Massey, David and Shannon Miller, Pam Corley, Mike and Virginia Garrett, and her sweet sister-in-law, Sheila Miller. Lastly, Marsha is survived by her pride and joy, her doggy daughter, Maddie Chatham.

After graduating from South Cobb High School, Marsha dedicated 44+ years as a dispatcher, serving with unwavering loyalty and reliability. She took great pride in her work, and her commitment stood as a testament to her character- hardworking and always willing to lend a hand.

Marsha, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, kindness, and an unwavering faith in God. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family. Whether she was laughing around the dining room table or sharing memories at the family reunion, she created a sense of home wherever she was. She had a special way of making everyone feel valued, accepted, and deeply cherished.

Marsha was a keeper of stories- both old and new. Her passion for researching family history was more than a hobby; it was her gift to us. She gathered the threads of our past and wove them into a narrative that connected us all. She expressed her creativity through filling albums with the snapshots of our lives- holidays, milestones, birthday parties, and the everyday moments that become treasures with time. Each scrapbook or photo album was crafted with love for her family, a testament to the joy she found in preserving our memories.

Her love for animals was woven through her life. She had a gentle way of understanding them- an ability to calm, comfort, and connect. Animals trusted her and would often show up at the doorstep, sensing the kindness and tenderness her home had to offer.

Though she is no longer with us in body, the imprint of her warmth will remain forever. She taught us to honor our past, cherish our present, and nurture the bonds that hold us together. May her spirit run free with the horses she loved, and may her memory continue to guide us gently, as she always did.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Davis Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Jeremy Vanpelt officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service from 11:00 am-1:00 pm prior to the service.

Flowers are accepted, or in place of flowers, donations may be made in Marsha's name to the Saint Jude Children's Hospital (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ), ASPCA (Your Gift Could Save a Life | ASPCA) , or the Alzheimer's Association (Help fight Alzheimer's. ).
