It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marsha Jess on May 16, 2025. Marsha, born on September 30, 1942, lived a life marked by warmth, laughter, and an unwavering spirit.

A Celebration of Life to honor Marsha's memory was held on May 25th, 2025, at Hidden Falls Inn in Marble Falls, Texas. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman.

Marsha was a woman of dedication and humor. For 25 years, she was a familiar and beloved face as a hotel night auditor, where her commitment earned her the Employee of the Year award twice. Before that, she built a career as an AT&T operator in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her versatile spirit also led her to spend many years working alongside her beloved husband, Johnny Ray, in the demanding field of construction.

Beyond her professional life, Marsha was renowned for her ability to tell a great story, always with a touch of humor that captivated her audience. She cherished her family deeply. Her bond with her granddaughter, Carly, was exceptionally strong. Marsha often recounted their cherished times going to the movies and embarking on "shopping till they dropped" adventures during hours-long walks through Walmart. So profound was their connection that when Carly introduced Marsha to her now-fiancé, Keenan Murchison, Marsha humorously warned him that if he ever misbehaved, it wouldn't be a hurricane coming after him – it would be *her*.

Marsha also shared an incredibly close and steadfast bond with her son, Leslie Ray. Their relationship was built on a foundation of deep trust and mutual respect, a friendship that transcended the typical mother-son dynamic and kept them close throughout their lives. Marsha always knew she could count on Leslie, and she was immensely grateful for everything he did for her. They navigated life side-by-side, never once butting heads, a testament to their profound connection.

Marsha was truly "daddy's little girl," maintaining a close relationship with her father, even when separated by states. They frequently flew back and forth to visit each other, with phone calls filling the gaps in between. Her childhood on a Missouri farm shaped her adventurous spirit; she often recalled eagerly completing her milking chores so she could ride her horse, a spirited companion she'd have to playfully trick into the stall. Once saddled, they would gallop across the fields, the wind in her hair a symbol of her joy and freedom.

Known for her boundless kindness and understanding nature, Marsha was dependable, positive, and fiercely loyal. She touched the lives of many with her sweet disposition and genuine warmth.

Marsha is survived by her loving son, Leslie Ray, and his wife, Sarah Ray; her devoted daughter, Skeeter Ray DeLeon, and her husband, Zachary DeLeon. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Spencer Ray and his wife, Toni Ray; Carly Ray and her husband, Keenan Murchison; Jackson Ray; Carter DeLeon; Phinny DeLeon; and her adored great-granddaughters, Elleanora Ray and Gwendolynn Ray, and many friends.
