Marsha Marie Manning (nee Ballou) age 82, passed away peacefully at her residence in Canton, Georgia. Marsha was the daughter of the late William Ballou and Fern Taylor Ballou. She grew up in Alma, Georgia. In Bacon County, known as one of the breakfast counties (Appling, Bacon, Coffee). She graduated from Bacon County High School, Valdosta State and the University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Art. She worked for several years as an Art teacher in the Albany School System, Muscogee County, and at Fort Benning School System. It was there she met and married her NYC "Yankee" husband, Dennis. Marsha was very passionate about growing tomatoes, walking any wooded hiking trail, a good Opera and a witty country music song that mimicked a twisty Opera story. Marsha will be remembered for her strong faith, hospitality, generosity, and ability to form friendships easily. Marsha is survived by her husband, Dennis, as well as nieces, nephews, and several cousins. She and Dennis were married for 50 years. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30PM Thursday September 25th from the sanctuary at Canton First Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Darby Funeral Home from 9:00AM until 11:15AM and again at 12:00PM until the Funeral hour at Canton First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. Contributions in honor of Marsha may be directed to the Jewish National Fund, USA, Plant Trees in Israel or the Falany Performing Arts Center, at Reinhardt University, located at 7300 Reinhardt Circle, Waleska, Georgia, 30183. jnf.org/trees Jewish National Fund USA.
