Marsha Susan Monaghan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 3, 2025. She was born in Kenilworth, Illinois to Harlan and Margaret Kidd in November 1948. After vacationing at Woodhaven Lakes for 12 years, she and her husband, Ed, made Amboy their permanent home in 2004. For 13 years, like her mother and grandmother before her, she was a school librarian, sharing her love for books with students at the old Junior High School. Being around Marsha meant one thing. Her sharp wit and "Kidd" sense of humor would make you laugh, no matter what the situation or how bad your day was going. Her creative mind was always working, even when she was knitting, crocheting, solving the daily crossword puzzle, or planting vegetables and herbs in her huge garden. At Christmas, the yard was always decorated, highlighted with a handmade wreath on the door! Although optimistic on the outside, Marsha's life was one of joy and sorrow. The joy of sharing her life with caring partners, children, grandchildren, co-workers and friends; the unexpected loss of her son's father and coping with the gradual loss of her mobility and independence to advanced COPD. Marsha is survived by her dedicated husband and caregiver, Ed Monaghan; sons Dennis (Ashley) Jakiel and Trent Busse; daughter Heather ( Mark) Sherman and step-daughters Tammy (Dan) Bailenson and Deena; grandchildren Logan, Raven, Christopher, Lexis, Tyler, Ashley, Hailey, Dante and Britnee Sue; sister Linda Wiltberger, brother Bill (Gail) Kidd, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses Glen Busse and Dennis Jakiel, and brother, Jim Kidd. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Deacon Kevin Prunty of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy officiating. Private family burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be on Sunday Aug. 31, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Donations can be made to St. Patrick's Church through their website or to the family.
