Marsha Radding, 98, of Louisville, KY, passed peacefully in her home on May 26, 2024.
Born on April 16, 1926, in NYC, Marsha was the daughter of Herman and Blanche Weinberg. She was a talented artist and craftswoman, as well as a fashion enthusiast. Her early career included painting movie cells of cartoons, such as Little Lulu, as well as designing and drawing women's' fashion. She was a lifelong student of art and enjoyed crafts such as beading, quilting, collage, and mosaics. Cooking and music were two other interests that she had. In her mid-teens she met her future husband, Philip Radding, from Springfield, Mass., and carried on a long-distance relationship with him until they married in 1945. After Philip graduated from medical school, she moved to various places with him while he pursued his career, including two years in Germany while he served in the Army. They eventually settled in West Hartford, Connecticut, where they raised their three children. After Dr. Radding passed away in 1999, Marsha moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Marsha was active in organizations throughout her life, including volunteering with Mt. Sinai Hospital Women's Auxiliary (Hartford, CT.), serving as a dedicated board and social club member of the Village of Old St. Andrews in Louisville, and being a lifelong member of Hadassah.
Marsha is survived by her children, Adrienne Michels (Fred), Jeffrey Radding (Ellen Gottesdiener), and Carolyn Radding (Ken Hinshaw); grandchildren, Kevin Michels (Gaby LaTorre), Kimberly Lenz (Shannon), Ben Radding, and Noah Radding; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Mary Durrett, the Enclave of East Louisville, and Bluebird Home Care of Kentucky for the wonderful care they provided for our mother.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Avon, CT.
Memorial donations honoring Marsha's memory may be made to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, 333 Bloomfield Avenue, Zachs Campus, West Hartford, CT, 06117.
