Marsha Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium on Jan. 25, 2026.
Marsha L. Smith, 83, widow of Kenneth M. "Kenny" Smith, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at McLeod Health Clarendon.

Born January 6, 1943, in Lithonia, GA, she was a daughter of the late Marjorie Nell Lloyd. She retired from General Telephone Company and Sumter Utilities. She was an avid jewelry maker and reader. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was truly one of a kind. Known for her sharp humor and playful spirit, she could make anyone laugh and never missed a chance to share a joke or a funny comment. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence brought comfort and joy wherever she went. In her later years, her daughter put her own life on hold to care for her full time after she suffered a stroke and later developed vascular dementia. Throughout it all, she was deeply loved and tenderly cared for, and she never stopped expressing how much her daughter meant to her. The bond they shared was one of devotion, sacrifice, and profound love. Her love for her family was boundless. She adored her grandchildren endlessly-especially Preston, whom she proudly and playfully declared the favorite before they left the hospital the night she passed. The three of them were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. They all 3 have blessed her with great grandchildren. Nixon, Mallory, Raelynn, Titan, and another on the way due in May. She also carried in her heart a deep and lasting love for her son, Aubrey, who passed away in 2001, and he was never far from her thoughts. She was a constant source of love, encouragement, and warmth, and she will forever be remembered as an incredible grandmother, a devoted mother, and an even better person.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Smith; three grandchildren, Taylor Dangerfield (Ashley), Madison Rickard (Zachary), and Preston Lilze (Kendall); great-grandchildren, Nixon, Mallory, Raelynn, Titan and another one the way due in May; and siblings, Ginger Harmstrom, William Lloyd, Dee Colquitt, and Marjorie Wilson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Dangerfield, Preston Lilze, John Wilson, Bobby Lambert, Stanley Mcleod, David Phillips.
