Marshall Peteet Walker of
Madison, GA passed away quietly in his home. He was born July 31, 1935 on the Walker Plantation near
Madison, Georgia, then known as Walkerest. He departed this earth on November 20, 2025. His parents were the late Anne Barrett Walker and Pierre Gautier Walker. Brothers were the late Peter G. Walker and Barrett L. Walker. All buried at the Madison Memorial Cemetery.
He attended public school in Madison and graduated from Darlington School of Boys in Rome, Georgia. He received an Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Fraternity Gym Team.
After graduation from Tech he spent 40 years of his career in the Forest Products Division of several companies and retired from Union Camp as Southern Regional Manager in 1999. After retirement, he started a real estate and consulting company in
Madison, Georgia. He served for a number of years on the Board of Morgan Memorial Hospital, the Economic Development Committee of Morgan County and Economic Board of Morgan County.
Marshall was a member of Madison Baptist Church which he joined when he was ten years old. He rode his bicycle from the Walton house where he lived then, to his baptism.
When in high school, Marshall and his father helped Cousin Cason J. Callaway with the beginning landscaping and development of Callaway Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Appl Walker, of 57 years, whom he considered to be his most loyal and loving lifetime partner.
In addition, he is survived by a daughter Caroline Walker Wilhelm of Charlotte, NC, and sons; Marshall Walker, Jr. and wife Catharine of Stouby, Denmark; Garth Walker of Ocean Springs, MS, and Pierre Walker and Nathalie of New Orleans, LA. Grandchildren, Lauren Wilhelm of Charlotte, NC, Marshall K. Walker and Courtney of Mobile, AL, Aurora Walker Hodge and Gideon of Tucker, GA, and Ellen Walker Perkins and Sean of Ocean Springs, MS; Felicia Walker and Cameron Walker of Munich, Germany, Sean Walker of Ocean Springs, MS, William, Camille, and Victoria Walker of Stouby, Denmark, Abigail, Juliet, and Josephine Walker of New Orleans, LA, and great-grandchildren; Marshall K. Walker, Jr., Garrett Walker, and Meredith Walker of Mobile, AL; and Sunny Perkins of Ocean Springs, MS.
Marshall's cremains will be interred in the Madison Memorials Cemetery with six generations of Walker relatives. The family plans a private memorial service in Madison.
