Marshalla D. Roane departed this life on Monday November 3,2025 at Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Her life began on April 21, 1961, daughter of the late Christopher Brown and Jane Roane of Charles City, Va.
At an early age she confessed Christ as her personal Savior and joined Parrish Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. Walter Anderson. Marshalla loved to sing and was a member of the I. D. Jones Choir in which she participated until her health declined. Marshalla lost her vision at an early age. She attended the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired. Through it all she always acknowledged and kept her faith strong in the Lord.
Marshalla, affectionately known as "Mumpsi" was always a joy to be around. From holidays, birthday parties and family time in the yard, she loved to listen and dance to her favorite old school tunes. She would often host gatherings because she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Mumpsi enjoyed talking on the phone to catch up on the latest talk of the town. She will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her sons Carl Roane and Charles "Big Head" Roane; aunt, Edith Smith, and companion Charles Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory, grandson Carl Roane; devoted cousins Alfreda Smith, Cassandra Allen, Florence Brown, Nathaniel Brown; caregiver Dawn Harris; cousins Horace, Norman Jr., Kirkland, Reginald, Ardette and Alfred Smith; and many other cousins, family and friends including Lisa Charity, Jennifer Whiting, Robert Whiting, Blanche Brooks and Brenda Brooks.
A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A viewing will be held 2 hours prior to service. Interment will be in the Parrish Hill Baptist Church cemetery, 12401 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City, Va 23030.
