Marta was born in El Salvador (1942), in the city of Santa Ana, to Jacinto Mata Morales and Maria Eliza de Mata Quintanilla.
She was one of the most noble ladies you could ever know, and the shining star of the Mata family. Always there whenever someone needed a helping hand.
She became a registered nurse, and worked as an operating room assistant before emigrating to the US in the mid-sixties.
An avid reader of Home and Garden magazine, she was able to create a tranquil and secluded idyllic environment in her home front yard, rich with a wide variety of flowers. Never shy of long distances, she would drive anywhere to visit family or friends. She let others know she cared by sending thoughtful cards and care packages. She loved music and was always the life of the party. Parties at her home were legendary, lasting 'till the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes with attendees such as the city manager and his wife as well as the town priest.
Her family was truly blessed by having had the gentle, loving ray of kindness she was. She was preceded in death by her brother Miguel Mata and younger brother Tony Mata. Her surviving siblings are her four sisters, Elsa Cabrera, Mirian Magdalena Velazquez, Juana Ramirez, and Celia Thesken. Her one surviving brother, the youngest of the clan, is Mario William Mata (Willy). Some of her nieces are Roxanna Martinez, Dinorah Gousheh, Eliza Robledo, Erika Marie Young, Ana Maria Soto and Kristina Thesken. Nephews are Hector Ramirez, Eddie Velazquez, Ramon Mata, Giovanni Bermudez, William Thesken, Christian Mata, and Alex Mata. Infinite gratitude goes to her loving niece Roxanna Martinez who assisted daily with
meals and was present nightly, 'till the end, to get Marta bathed and comfortable for a pleasant night's sleep. She was ready to help in any emergency 24/7. Special mention is also deserved by step-niece Gabby Marquez, who was always happy to share her culinary skills and bring Marta the soups she so much enjoyed. She also loved and was loved by many great-nieces and great-nephews. We will always remember her exuberant and infectious laugh that could fill a room.
– Her joyful spirit will live on in our hearts forever --
