May 1, 1955 - May 14, 2025
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Marte Medrano Castro, who passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada, at the age of 70.
Born in Cavite, Philippines, Marte was the beloved son of Liria M. Castro and Cesar E. Castro. He moved to the United States in 1972, completed his schooling in Tennessee, and began a life of service and dedication.
At the age of 17 years old, Marte joined the United States Army, where he served honorably with assignments in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam. After concluding his military service, he continued supporting his country through his work at NASA, stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Lancaster, California.
Marte was married to his loving wife, Alma Castro, for 37 years. Together they raised a close-knit family built on love, respect, faith, and strong values. He is survived by Alma and their children: Janel, Pauline, Patricia, and Cedric. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Noah, Penelope, and Sophia.
He is survived by his sister, Celia Castro, and brother, Choly Castro, and is preceded in death by his younger brother, Ruel Castro.
Marte was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a proud, gentle grandfather. He was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, and love for God and for his family. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and practicing karate—simple pleasures that brought him peace and joy.
A memorial and viewing will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89119. A Catholic Mass will be officiated by Father Ding Salditos.
Marte will be laid to rest with full military honors on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10:15 AM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005.
Marte’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering service, and boundless love. His memory will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
