Martha "Joan" Butcher, age 85, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Carriage Court of Washington CH. She passed less than twenty-four hours after her beloved husband, Loren L. Butcher, Jr., some may believe she passed of a broken heart.

Joan retired as an office manager from Travel Centers of America in Jeffersonville. Joan was a member of the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was lovingly known as "Grandma B."
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Leland Butcher, Jr., whom she married on August 9, 1974, and brother, Don Crabtree.
Survivors include her children, Chris Brown, Steve (Tammy) Butcher, Nikki Dunn, Teresa (Douglas) Phillips, and Scott Butcher; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Blanche (Dick) Robinson. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
