Martha E. (Buchenroth) Cox, 89, of rural West Liberty, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on May 12, 1935, to the late Alfred Reuben and Tempie Amelia (Stutzman) Buchenroth.
On June 7, 1953, she married Alfred L. Cox Sr., and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2004. She is also preceded in death by her sisters: Ruth Jean McCloskey, Betty Eileen Smith, and Lois A. Holycross.
Martha is survived by her sons: Alfred Cox Jr. of DeGraff, Scott (Joyce) Cox of West Liberty, Kevin (Susan) Cox of West Liberty; daughters: Barbara Powell of West Liberty and Jo Anne (Robert) Hudson of Bellefontaine; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Donald Buchenroth and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was a 1953 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and was employed for many years at the Bellefontaine Examiner. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Martha was an avid baker and made sure the “kids” always had cookies available. In her free time, she enjoyed embroidery, reading, and completing word searches. Her family was her greatest joy. She loved attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s numerous activities.
Martha’s family would like to thank the nursing staff of Universal Home Health and Hospice Care and Logan Acres for their exceptional and compassionate care.
Pastor Jeff Willetts will officiate a funeral service on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Ave, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 or to Universal Home Health and Hospice, 921 Rush Ave, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
