Martha Fila (Calk) Crossland was received into our Saviors arms on June 2, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Martha was 78 years old. Martha was born in Corpus Christi on December 17, 1945, to William Carlyle Calk Sr. and Mary Wilma (Johnson) Calk. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers William Carlyle Calk Jr. and David Ross Calk.
Martha resided in Perry place until her parents had a house built on Lamont Street in Corpus Christi where she grew up and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1963.
Martha attended Delmar College and worked as a bookkeeper. She then met the love of her life Thomas Orland Crossland Sr. and they married June 11, 1966. Martha and Tommy moved a lot for work and settled in Calallen district in 1978.
Martha was a wonderful homemaker, cook, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had many hobbies such as ceramics, making jewelry, and gardening. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for 24 years. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, singing in her church choir for over 46 years at Grace United Methodist Church. She also loved being part of her community thus working for 22 years as a teacher’s aide at Calallen Middle School.
Martha is survived by 4 children. Daughter Sharon Lynn (Crossland) Shudark, married to Delray Shudark. Daughter Christine Faye (Crossland) Burkhart married to Mitch Burkhart, Son Thomas Orland Crossland jr. married to Melissa (May) Crossland, Son David Marshall Crossland married to Michelle (Bickham) Crossland . Martha is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Martha will be dearly missed. She was selfless and went above and beyond for anyone she loved. She was loved by her devoted husband, children, grandchildren and friends. One day we will see you again.
