Tex Murrell Crossland

Tex Murrell Crossland, 84, of Deer Park, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025,
surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 29, 1941, in Hominy, Oklahoma, to Melvin and Mildred (Big Eagle), and
was very proud of his Osage heritage. He was later raised by his adoptive mother, Cleo Burrow.
Tex is survived by his children: Kimberly Crossland (Jeff), Steve Crossland (fiancé Martha),
Carol Chavez (Mark), Tina Jennings (Jim), Lynnette McNutt (Cecil), and Paige Newton (fiancé
Steve). He was deeply loved by his many grandchildren-Jennifer, James, Alicia, Hailey,
Keaton, Jacqui, Tyler, Zoe, Marc, Dugan, Isabel, and McKenna-and by his many
great-grandchildren.
A proud member of the Osage Nation, Tex attended the University of Oklahoma before choosing
to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. He proudly served in the Army from 1963 to
1986, beginning his career as an enlisted soldier and completing his service as a Chief Warrant
Officer. During his time in the Army, he worked as an Intelligence Officer and served honorably
during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, Tex continued his service to the nation by
working for Raytheon, an American defense and aerospace company in Clear Lake, Texas, until
his second retirement.
He was a longtime member of VFW Post 4395, where he proudly served as Commander. His
dedication to veterans and the local community was evident in his leadership and tireless
commitment.
Known for his kindness, big heart, generosity, strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor,
Tex brightened the lives of everyone around him. An avid golfer for many years, he also loved
playing pool with friends and family. Traveling was one of his greatest joys, and he was proud to
have visited all 50 states over his lifetime-often with his beloved wife, Patty, by his side.
Tex's adventurous spirit, genuine warmth, and unwavering positivity made him not just the heart
of his family, but also a friend who left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Though he may no
longer walk beside us, Tex's legacy endures in the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the
love he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patty; his parents, Melvin and Mildred; his
adoptive mother, Cleo Burrow; his sister, Kimberly; and his brother, George.
A ceremony to honor Tex's life and to lay his beloved wife, Patty, to rest with him will take
place at Houston National Cemetery on December 19, 2025, at 12:30 PM.

Tex was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to his heart. In
