Worcester – Martha Susan “Sue” Dion, 75, passed away peacefully in her home on January 1, 2026. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who cherished her family above all else.
Sue embraced life with passion, finding her greatest happiness traveling with her family across the country and around the world. She loved immersing herself in art museums, theater performances, and botanical gardens, where she could linger and truly take everything in. An avid reader, she was rarely without a James Patterson book close by.
She also delighted in a good afternoon of shopping, especially when it led to adding another treasured Vaillancourt ornament to her collection. Sue loved gathering with friends and family to celebrate birthdays, holidays, graduations or just being together. She never missed a party and was always there for the people she cared about. Sue was cultured, adventurous and curious, and she also loved a good nap!
Born at home in Hanson, MA, she is the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Mary (Barnett) Walker. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1968 and worked for many years in the insurance industry in Worcester, including State Mutual (now Hanover Insurance) and Unum Insurance.
Sue leaves behind her four children, Charlotte Bombard and her husband Todd of Worcester, Stephanie van Colen and her husband Peter of Dartmouth, Carey Dion and her husband James Salsman of Sterling, and Steven Dion and his wife Maryellen of Leicester; her siblings, Ellen Walker, Mims Britland, and Arthur Walker and his wife Linda; grandchildren, Alexandra Tetreault and her husband Nathan, Ben Bombard and his wife Serenity, Aloura Dion, Mia Dion, and Andon van Colen; great grandchild Rory Bombard; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is predeceased by former husband Gerard F. Dion of South Grafton, MA, and will be missed by her greater Dion family.
Sue was an incredibly sweet woman who will be remembered for her positive and pleasant outlook on life and her beautiful smile.
A celebration of life gathering will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
