Brownfield Funeral Home - BrownfieldMemorial Service for Martha Loy “Dixie” Jones will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at United Family Fellowship with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating, under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Dixie was born on January 5, 1933, to James Leroy “Roy” Taylor and Inez Adeline “Nicky” Taylor in Robert Lee, TX. She passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 93.
Dixie married Coy Jones in 1955, and together they shared a beautiful life until his passing in 2019. They were inseparable partners, known for their spirit of collaboration as they embraced countless DIY projects, lovingly adding to their home and creating a warm sanctuary for their family.
A devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Brownfield since 1955, Dixie's faith was a cornerstone of her life. For an incredible 50 years, she taught Sunday School, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless children and embodying the values of love, patience, and compassion. She often spoke of her anticipation of heaven, reflecting her deep spiritual conviction.
Dixie’s passion for education led her to teach school for eight years. She later spent over two decades preparing income taxes, sharing her knowledge with others in the community. Her commitment to lifelong learning exemplified her belief in the power of education.
In addition to her teaching and community involvement, Dixie was a talented seamstress, crafting beautiful clothes for her family that will be cherished for generations to come.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Coy; her parents, Roy and Nicky Taylor; 9 sisters and a brother; and her son, Russ Jones. She is survived by her 3 children, Lee "Matt" Jones, Jay "Walt" Jones, and Martha Everheart; and 6 grandchildren.
