Funeral Service for Gilbert Gamez will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Faith Church, 3616 58th Street in Lubbock, TX, with Pastor Stormy Swann officiating. Viewing will be from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Templo Betel, 905 South 5th Street in Brownfield, TX, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Santos Gamez.
Gilbert was born on June 9, 1959, to Alfredo Soto Gamez and Isabel Flores Gamez in Morton, TX. He passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 66.
Throughout his years, Gilbert exemplified resilience and commitment in all he undertook. He approached every challenge with a fierce determination, demonstrating the true essence of hard work. Gilbert was not only a provider but also a giver, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer support to anyone in need. His selflessness and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be fondly remembered for his unwavering spirit.
Gilbert's love for his family was boundless. He and his wife, Yolanda, were married in 1976 and had enjoyed almost 50 years together. Gilbert cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, pouring into them the same love and warmth that defined his character. His presence will be missed immeasurably, but his lessons of kindness and dedication will live on in their hearts.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Stevie Rey Rodriguez and Mia Brittany Biera; parents, Alfredo and Isabel Gamez; sisters, Yolanda Gamez, Ester, Gamez and Irma Gamez; and brother, Alfredo Gamez, Jr. He is survived by his wife Yolanda Gamez; daughters, SueAnn Rodriguez and husband Felix and Peggy Herrera and husband Joel; sons, Gilbert Gamez, Jr. and wife Jaslyn Biera and Chris Gamez and wife Amanda Martinez; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; 6 brothers, and 5 sisters.
