Robert Guerrero Gamez (Bobby), 92, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025. Born in San Antonio, December 26, 1932; predeceased parents: Roberto Gamez and Dolores Guerrero.
Lanier High School graduate in 1952, Bobby was Freshman Guard on the basketball team, winning the City Championship Title.
Bobby, 19, enlisted in the US Marines Corps, serving in Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, rising to rank of Sergeant, and awarded the Purple Heart from retrieving wounded comrades from enemy fire and hit by mortar.
Bobby worked at Kelly AFB as Sheet Metal Worker until his civilian retirement.
Bobby drove an SAISD school bus for 10 years.
A member of the Fabulous Fifties alumni group, he helped raise funds for student athletic programs/equipment. Recognized in Virginia as an encouraging and positive influence for younger generations. He approached each day with a positive attitude and big smile!
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Survived by Robert (Christina); Lisa (Paul); grandchildren, Andrew, Gary, and Tara (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan.
Memorial Service: Roy Ackers Funeral Home, 515 N. Main Ave, Wednesday, January 21st, 11:00a. Visitation begins 10:30a. Committal Service: Ft Sam Houston Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, 1:30p.
