Martha Irene Gross

Martha Irene Gross, Marti, 84, of Galloway, passed away peacefully in her home on March 7th, 2026. She was born on November 8th, 1941 in Atlantic County. A wonderful loving mother and grandmother, a supportive twin sister, and nurturing daughter to the late Nellie Lashley of Port Republic.

Marti was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Stephen, on January 28th of 2024. She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Gross, Nancy Arato (and her husband, John), and Stephanie Gross; her three grandchildren, Stephen Schau, John Arato, and Talia Arato; and her twin sister, Marion Marcheski.

Marti graduated from Pleasantville High School, got her teaching degree in mathematics from Trenton State College, and went on to be a math teacher at her same former Pleasantville High School.

She got married at 24 and became a full-time mom raising her three children. She was a very active and involved mom participating in many events at her children's school's Christmas craft shows and PTA. She was the assistant coach for GTAA softball, and committed to all of her children's sports and activities.

Marti loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She was a barrel racer during her younger years and got her children involved with horses as well. She had a special love for flower gardening, reading best-selling novels, stitching, playing online word games with friends all around the world, and her little pal, Stoney, her cocker spaniel and best buddy.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 15th at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd. Galloway, NJ 08205, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Germania Cemetery, Moss Mill Rd. and Vienna, Galloway, N.J.
