Martha K. Hilst, 98, of West Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Westminster Village Healthcare Center.
She was born December 12, 1925, in Manito, IL to the late Louis and Carrie (Nannen) Lussenhop. She was a 1942 graduate of Manito High School. On September 25, 1944, she married Arvin Hilst in Manito, IL. The couple were married 54 years when Arvin passed away on July 1, 1999.
Martha was a proud wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of St James Lutheran Church where she was very involved in the St. James Lady Society and the St. James Roundtable Group. She also volunteered at Home Hospital. Martha enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She also loved to travel.
She is survived by a son, Roger (wife Debbie) Hilst; 4 grandchildren, Michael Hilst, David (wife Stacey) Hilst, Brian (wife Candace) Hilst, and Tara Hilst; a great-granddaughter, Leighlyn Hilst.
Preceded in death by her husband, Arvin R. Hilst and her parents, Louis and Carrie Lussenhop; a son, Larry Hilst; and 2 sisters, Irma Lussenhop and Verna Moore, daughter-in-law Sandra Hilst, grandson Matthew Hilst and great granddaughter Brooklyn Leach
Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service at 12:00pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47906 with Pastor John J. Bombaro officiating.
Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 North, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
Memorial contributions in Martha's name may be given to St. James Lutheran Church.
