Martha Hockensmith, age 89, of Canton Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Altercare of Alliance. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, to the late William and Marie (Dauer) Harbaugh.

A lifelong resident of the Canton area, Martha was a devoted member of North Industry Christian Church. Her faith, family, and community were central to her life.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Hockensmith; her brother, William Harbaugh; sisters, Marie Malavite, Betty Heisler, and Rose Karcher; and her son-in-law, Robert Steed.

She is survived by her loving children: daughters Nancy (Ike) Miller and Debra (Bob) Steed; sons Ray (Diane) Hockensmith Jr. and John (Kim) Hockensmith. She was a proud grandmother to Jason (Kelly) Miller, Sarah (Keith) Hochadel, Bart (Joy) Steed, Lacey (Tom) Murphy, Brock (Amanda) Steed, Heidi Hockensmith, and Ben Hockensmith, and a cherished great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Altercare of Alliance and Absolute Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Martha.
