Martha, a beloved retired nurse and cherished member of her family, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 2, 1943, Martha was known for her warm personality, never meeting a stranger and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her loving nature and gentle spirit endeared her to family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Martha devoted her life to caring for others, a trait that was reflected in her long and fulfilling career as a nurse. Her proudest accomplishment, however, was her children, whom she raised with unwavering love and guidance. She was the mother of three: Charles Kenneth Lalonde, Jr. (Colette), Brian Keith Lalonde (Lisa Blair), and Hily Katherine Lalonde (Wayne Doucet). In addition to her role as a nurturing mother, Martha was a doting grandmother to eight grandchildren: Amber Elizabeth Abshire, Brian Taylor Lalonde, Paul Michael Beglis, Brandi Angelle Lalonde, Kaylee Alysa Lalonde, Chase Tucker Lalonde, Deven Martin Lalonde, and a treasured great-grandmother to Evan Jude Abshire, Hadley Gray Robinson, and Brian Camdyn Lalonde.
Martha's family extended beyond her immediate relatives. She shared a special bond with her brother, William Pete Carras, and her sister, Mary Charlene Darr. In addition to her vibrant family life, Martha was deeply affected by the loss of her husband, Charles Kenneth Lalonde, Sr., who preceded her in death after sharing 58 years of a loving marriage. She was also predeceased by her father, Charles Hutson; her mother, Edna Smith Hutson Carras Bellard; and her sister, Linda Sue Littner.
Martha Ann Hutson Lalonde leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love. Her impact on those she loved and cared for will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends for many years to come. She will be profoundly missed but always remembered for her selfless love and the joy she brought to those around her.
