Martha Jacobs, 98, formerly of Charles Drive in Union Township, died Friday, October 24, 2025, at Avalon Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born on February 26, 1927, in New Castle, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Assad) Johns. She was married to the late Mike Jacobs, who died September 28, 2013. Mrs. Jacobs was a singer and had her radio show on WKST singing 1940s standards. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Michael Jacobs, of New Castle, Kathleen L. Fedrizzi and her husband Robert of New Castle, and Tammy J. O’Brien and her husband Michael of Syracuse, NY, six grandchildren, Robert Fedrizzi, Jr., Cynthia Pry, Ty Murphy, Andrea Grassel, Shane Murphy, and Sydney Murphy, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Freida Rohan of Youngstown, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Buddy, James, Amen, and Eddie Johns, and four sisters, Maleda Assid, Lillian Pellom, Rose Abraham, and Ann Mauro.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the William F. DeCarbo & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A memorial service will be celebrated Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at the William F. DeCarbo & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home. Father Kevin Long will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A special thank you to Avalon Nursing Home and Three Rivers Hospice for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Three Rivers Hospice and St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital.
