Martha Long Obituary

Martha Manley Long, 78, resident of Darlene Drive, loving wife of Charles Long, passed away Friday, December 19,2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late William Edwin and Johnnie Clardy Manley. A 1966 graduate of Greenwood High School and 1970 graduate of Winthrop University, Martha taught Home Economics in Greenwood District 50 for many years, and retired from SC DHEC Region 1 as Breastfeeding Coordinator. Her interests included embroidery and sewing and she was a member of Woodfields Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish her memory in addition to her loving husband Charles of 54 years are her daughters Rebecca Long Bennett (Edwin), and Nancy Long Suddeth (Matthew), both of Greenwood and granddaughters raised in the home Jenna Jordan (Michael) of Hodges and Michelle Evans (Zac) of Lexington. She is also survived by granddaughters Blair Gossett of Hodges, Emily Suddeth of Greenwood and grandson Hunter Gossett (Zoie) of Ft. Leonardwood MO; great grandchildren, Abel Evans, Nicole Thomas, Railyn Thomas, Mason Jordan, Konner Gossett, Saraphina Gossett, Nolan Evans, Sylas Gossett and Aria Jordan; and brother Cliff Manley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son John Wilson Long, sister Janet Proctor and brothers Michael and Bill Manley.

The family will be at the home, and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home Monday, December 22 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
