McGee’s Crossroads, NC: Martha Lou, a great powerful force, of Stephenson Road made Heaven a little more interesting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. We picture her riding around in her red minivan with her visor on, waving at every one she sees. We will celebrate her life at 11:00AM- Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Benson Grove Baptist Church in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Cashwell. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Church Cemetery in Angier.
Martha Lou was born on October 11, 1930 in Johnston County. Her parents were James Chester, Sr. and Ila West. Martha’s husband, Charles Parrish has been waiting for 27 years to see that red van pull into the pearly gates. Martha loved both of her churches, Johnson Memorial and Benson Grove, where she shared her love of music and Jesus. She lived a long happy life, and she made a lot of people’s lives happier. She was one of a kind, and in true Martha fashion she would leave us all with her classic farewell, “LOVE, LOVE.”
Martha’s greatest joys are her family, daughter, Celeste and Trigger Byrd of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania; son, Scott Parrish of McGee’s Crossroads; grandchildren, Michael Byrd, Jeremy Byrd and wife, Lindsey, Adam Parrish and wife, Brooke, Allie Parrish and fiancé, Cameron Wood, Anna Smith; great-grandchildren, Theo Byrd and Tate Parrish; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Benson Grove Baptist Church prior to the service.
Please remember Martha Lou by sending a donation to Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 Hwy 50 North, Benson, NC 27504 or to one’s favorite charity.
