Martha McManus Obituary

LANCASTER, S.C. - Mrs. Martha Gail Hunter McManus, age 77, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at MUSC-Lancaster surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 18, 1947, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Henry Randolph Hunter and the late Annie Shehane Hinson and was the loving wife of Vernon McManus.
Mrs. McManus was a member of Covenant Baptist Church where she loved her church and church family. Family was very important to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, watching the Gaither Gospel Hour, and listening to gospel music, especially her favorite, The Hoppers.
Mrs. McManus is survived by her husband of nearly 39 years, Vernon McManus; her three children, David Scott (Molly Flynn), Pam Scott Funderburk, and Debra Scott Watts; her two step-daughters, Debbie McManus Haynes (Rev. Mike), and Donna McManus Hayes (Mike); her eight grandchildren, Hannah Funderburk, Haven Langley, Garrett Haynes (Kristen), Kaitlyn Haynes Waldo (Logan), Megan Funderburk Balcerzak (Drew), Blake Langley (Autumn), Nicholas Watts, and Will Langley (Aaliyah); her three great-grandchildren, Asher Langley, Harley Langley, and Daniel Haynes; her brother-in-law, W.J. "Dub" Snipes; special niece, Tanjia Foster (Wayne); and many other special family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, William "Catfish" Hunter, and Barry Hunter; three sisters, Shelby Jean Taylor, Joyce Snipes, and Brenda Kennington; and her son-in-law, James "Jamie" W. Langley.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. McManus will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Covenant Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Bert Welch and Rev. Mike Haynes. The family will receive friends following the service in the welcome area.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Baptist Church, General Fund, 165 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
