In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Woman
Martha Aurora Antillon Prieto, a loving and selfless mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2025, at the age of 83. Her
life was a beautiful reflection of unwavering love, kindness, and devotion to family.
Born to Refugio Antillon Lozano and Maria Emilia Barraza Burciaga in Juarez, Chihuahua,
Mexico on November 22, 1941, Martha spent her childhood cultivating a love for music and
dance. She cherished memories of playing the piano and attending dance classes, where
her creativity and grace shone brightly.
Martha married the love of her life, Luis Alfonso Prieto Sr., and together they built a home
filled with love and laughter. Though preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister
Lilia Hortencia Antillon, Martha remained a pillar of strength and resilience for her family,
ensuring that their legacy of love and devotion carried on.
Family was the cornerstone of Martha’s life. She delighted in spending time with her
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Her sense of humor
brought light to every gathering, especially during her favorite family tradition—playing
Lotería. She was always the life of the game, insisting everyone play with dollars to make it
“more exciting,” filling the room with laughter and memories that will forever be cherished.
In her quiet moments, Martha loved to unwind while listening to Latin ballads and Mariachi
music and often found solace in the serene beauty of Ruidoso, New Mexico, a place where
she felt truly at peace. Her selflessness extended to all who knew her, as she always placed
the happiness and needs of others above her own.
She leaves behind her devoted children, Luis Prieto Jr., Lorena Prieto Sanchez, Silvia Prieto
Aguilar, and Alfred Prieto; grandchildren, Valerie Lisette Cobos, Luis Andres Prieto, Rene
Sanchez Jr., Laura Annell Prieto, Emily Hope Prieto, Ethan Alfred Prieto, and Elle Grace
Prieto; great-grandchildren, Alexander Louis Pase and Sophia Inez Prieto; her beloved
brother, Gerardo Antillon; sons-in-law Rene Sanchez and Eduardo Aguilar; daughters-inlaw
Sylvia Laura Prieto and Grace Luera Prieto; and a large extended family of nieces and
nephews, all of whom were touched by her love and generosity.
To honor and celebrate Martha’s extraordinary life, a Gathering of Remembrance and
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-
East, located at 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX 79915. The Gathering of Remembrance will be
held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the Memorial Service taking place at 12:00 p.m.
May perpetual light shine upon you, Martha, and may your love continue to illuminate the
lives of those you held so dear. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who were
blessed to know you.
