Martha Ann "Marty" Shaw (McCumber) Milton/Janesville Martha Ann "Marty" Shaw (McCumber) went to be with the Lord at Rock Haven, Janesville, WI on August 18, 2025 at the age of 94. Marty was born on her grandmother's porch in Barlett, IL on June 29, 1931, the daughter of Archie McCumber and Agnes (Clausen) McCumber. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1949. She married Edwin Elston Shaw on October 13, 1951. Her marriage to Edwin produced three children: Dennis, Dawn, and Teresa. In her working life, Marty worked at Elgin Clock Company in Elgin, IL; Gibbs Manufacturing in Janesville, WI; for the Milton School District as a bus driver; and for Burdick Corporation in Milton, WI. Marty's heart was in giving to others. She loved to cook and bake, sharing much of what she made with others, especially at Christmastime, when she made cookies and hard candy and gave them away to many in the community. She was honest to a fault and would freely give her opinion on how things should be done. Marty was also generous with her love, especially to her family. She was dedicated to the work of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist church, helping with their annual Turkey Supper and the Youth Christmas Brunch for many years, in addition to her other participation in the church. She was active in her community in many ways: Jr. Women's Club, Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scouts, Questers, Order of the White Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, and Order of the Amaranth. In her later years, she sang with the Blue Notes at the Gathering Place, participated with Homestead Card Makers, and listened to students read at Milton East Elementary School. She is survived by her three children: Dennis (Sheri) Shaw, Dawn (Scott) Scoville, and Teresa (Rinald) Kersten; eight grandchildren: Mike (Stephanie) Shaw, Lisa (Jess) Reif, Dan (Christine) Shaw, Andrew Zimmerman, Matthew Zimmerman, Sarah (Josh) Green, Kurt (Christy) Yager, Brian Scoville, Nicholas (Brittany) Kersten, and Randy (Marcy) Kersten; and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as her sister-in-law Kaye McCumber, several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie R. and Agnes (Clausen) McCumber, husband Edwin, brothers Raymond, William and Robert McCumber, sister-in-law Corrine McCumber, several aunts and uncles, and her daughter-in-law Diane (Mundth) Shaw. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at The Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, 720 E. Madison Ave., Milton, WI. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 am.
