Martha Anne Smith

Martha Smith, 78-year-old, long time Woodward resident passed away, Wednesday June 26, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at the Fair Lawn Cemetery in Elk City. Arrangements were made under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
Martha Anne (Towne) Smith was born on December 11, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas to Edd and Gladys (Spiess) Towne. She was the fifth of her eight siblings. Growing up the family moved around to numerous places. Martha graduated from Woodward High School. She was united in marriage to Albert "Bud" Smith on May 26, 1963 in Perryton, Texas. The couple made their first home in Woodward, Oklahoma. They later moved to their family farm in Sayre, Oklahoma. To this union they were blessed with three children; Kellie, Kevin, and Mistie. Martha and Bud raised and trained thoroughbred horses for many years. They spent all their free time traveling to the next race.
Martha worked at Walmart for 31 years. She loved being able to see and talk to all the people. She did not know a stranger and always made sure you had a smile on your face. She also thought it was a crime for a child to leave Walmart without a smiley face sticker. Martha enjoyed spending time with her family and was always so proud of what they have all accomplished. She also enjoyed reading, weekly breakfast with her girlfriends, and going to the casino.
She is survived by her daughters; Mistie Long and husband Duke, Kellie Mullins-McMartin and husband Dayton, son, Kevin Smith, grandchildren, Lacey Thompson and husband Matt, Austin Smith, Kassidi Patterson, Kaley Patterson, Leslie Smith, and Logan Mullins, brother, Tom Howard and wife Connie. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Smith, her parents, Edd and Gladys Towne, baby sister, Hope Brunner, and other siblings and family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Marthas memory with donations to the Toby Keiths OK Kids Korral, as she had a deep love for country music and a strong passion for aiding children in need.
