Jerry Henthorn, 85 year old Mooreland resident, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in Oklahoma City. Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Kenneth Gerald "Jerry" Henthorn was born on August 29, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Toney Harvey and Lelia Alice (Biggs) Henthorn. Jerry grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City High School.
Jerry married Maureen "Moe" Henthorn. Jerry and Maureen were High School Sweethearts and decided to get married young at 18 and 17 years old. So young that Jerry's mother had to sign a permission slip allowing him to obtain a marriage license. The legal age for the husband at the time was 21 years old. So they eloped (at that time it was referred to as a "Runaway Marriage") and were first married on May 27, 1957 in Purcell, OK. A few months later they had a renewal of their vows in a church on November 27, 1957 also in Purcell, OK.
Jerry and Maureen had four children. When their first child was a year old, they decided to "Go West Young Man" and make a new life for their small family. So, they joined Jerry's brother Robert and his family and moved to California. Once there they settled in Inglewood near Los Angeles. Jerry's first job was installing glass. We still have his first dollar ever made at that glass company. Moving up Jerry started attending El Camino College and was hired by Western Airlines and became a Buyer for the airline. He would buy everything from the smallest screw all the way up to the uniforms that the Stewardess's would wear. Jerry and his family bought their first home in Newbury Park, CA which was a new city in Ventura County surrounded by lots of hills which they enjoyed hiking in.
After about 13 years in California Jerry's father passed away so Jerry and his brother Robert packed their families up and returned to Oklahoma City to help their mom with the families farming business. Jerry remained in the aerospace industry and started working for Gulf Stream Aerospace as a Buyer and in Inventory Control. Jerry made lots of friends at Gulf Stream and up until the last couple of years of Jerry's life, would get together with former coworkers and have fun, food and fellowship.
Jerry's first wife, Moe passed away at the young age of 60 from undiagnosed heart failure. Jerry retired from Gulf Stream not too long after and became involved in his High School Reunion Committee and rekindled his friendship with Jerry's future second wife, Judith. Jerry and Judith had known each other since grade school. This rekindling led to them marrying and entering their "Golden Years" together. Both Jerry and Judith took life by the horns and camped out with their 5th wheel group at surrounding lakes, traveled to different states to visit family and friends, both were involved in their Senior Center and Church. They were blessed to have each found happiness and love in this latter season of their lives. We have the comfort and faith to know that now Jerry is with our Lord Jesus and all the rest of his family and friends who have preceded him.
He is survived by sons: Richard Henthorn and wife Susie, Russell Henthorn; daughters: Theresa Murphy and husband Kevin, Cynthia Kralik and husband William; nine grandchildren: Brian Murphy and wife Caila, Melissa Forshner and husband Dan, Amanda Smith, Camron Smith, Kirstin Currie and husband Richard, Ian Henthorn, Isaac Henthorn and wife Sydney, Kandie Thompson and husband Jerod, Kameron Kralik and wife Courtney; nine great-grandchildren: Hudson Murphy, Abigail Murphy, Stryder Murphy, Lincoln Murphy, Teagan Currie, Tenley Currie, Faye Forshner, Henry Forshner, Kandon Kralik.
