Martha Sue (Smith) Stephens, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, formerly of Boaz, Alabama, passed away on August 22, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1944, to Larue and Annabelle Smith in Oakridge, Tennessee. Martha Sue was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and teacher. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart and enjoyed every moment she got to spend with family and friends. She faithfully spent her days pouring the love of Christ into everyone she met. She will always be remembered for her gentle spirit and sweet smile. We look forward to the day when we will reunite with her in paradise to pick up where we left off and worship our Savior for eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Herbert Glenn Stephens; parents, Annabelle and Larue Smith; brothers, Donald (Sonny), Verlon (Freckles), Neil (Buck), and Ranny Smith; sisters, Margaret Street and Nelda Cooper. She is survived by her son, Mike Stephens (Michelle), and daughter, Stephanie Gonzalez (Martin); her chosen daughter, Bandaline Wood (Dennis); seven grandchildren, Lance Davis (Michel), Emily Karr (Chris), Michael Stephens, Max Stephens (Jordan), Natalie Gonzalez, Madalynn Stephens, and Adrian Gonzalez; ten great-grandchildren, Caysn, Jay, Emerson, Trent, Flossy, Micah, Ezra, Cole, Zion, and Kai; siblings, Danny (Ann) and Sheila Smith; as well as nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Beulah Baptist Church from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., with services to follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a monetary donation to your charity of choice.
