Martha Stricklin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Mar. 2, 2026.
Martha Ann Drake Stricklin, 89, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. Born and raised in Hartselle, Alabama, Martha was the daughter of Thomas Elmer Drake and Dorothy Crutchfield Drake and was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth Joette Drake.

In 1956, she married Robert David Stricklin (Bob) of Cullman, Alabama. In 1960 they moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where they raised their two daughters.

In 1996, Martha relocated to Orange Beach to be closer to her beloved grandson, who was her pride and joy.

Martha was a devoted stay-at-home mother until her girls were older. Her profession was banking, and she worked with Regions Bank and Telco Credit Union before retiring. After moving to Gulf Shores, she enjoyed working in boutiques and gift shops, including Coco Island Furniture and Luna Beach Interiors. She truly loved people and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Ann Stricklin, her special friend Debbie Thom; and Kim Stricklin McConnell (Wesley); her grandson, Zac McConnell (Machenzie); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who loved her dearly. Her nephew, Lane Stricklin, will be delivering the eulogy.

Martha was a loving mother and grandmother. She taught her family to always do their best, never give up, be kind to all, and be respectful. She taught her girls there are two things you cannot live without: your reputation and your credit. She and her two daughters shared a very close and special bond throughout her life.

In her later years, she resided at Diversicare Nursing Home in Foley, Alabama. The family extends special thanks to her caregivers, many of whom became like family to her.

Funeral services will be held at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, with the funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Martha will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
