Martha Jane Ross Thomas, age 91 of Gordon County, GA, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Gordon Health Care of Calhoun.

Martha was born on September 8, 1933 in Bartow County, GA, the daughter of the late Tom Ross and Bertha Henson Ross. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: her husband of 70 years, Hugh Carl Thomas in April of 2021; three sisters, Mary Lacey, Rachel Copeland, and Infant sister Wiloma Ross; grandson, Brett Stephen Thomas; and son, Gary Thomas in 2024.

Martha was a homemaker most of her life and she dearly loved her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith and member of Plainview Baptist Church.

Martha is survived by: her three sons, Steve Thomas and his wife Janie, David Thomas and his wife Silma, and Eddie Thomas; two daughters, Debby Gowens and her husband Dewey, and Cindy Lumpkin; brother, Raymond Ross; sister, Wilma Hale; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Gordon Health Care and Affinis Hospice for the care she had.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 12 PM until 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Hibberts officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Larry Hibberts in charge of graveside rites.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.
