Martha Wayne Thomas, 82, died on November 17, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Hospice, surrounded by her grandchildren. She was a resident of Aberdeen, MS, and a member of the North Mississippi Worship Center in Wren. She was born August 9, 1943 in Louisville, MS to the late Elbert Wayne and Willie Roxanna Barnes. She was a graduate of Louisville High School, and attended college at Mississippi University for Women and Delta State University. Martha was a paralegal and spent the majority of her career working for the Law Office of Luanne Thompson, and Jeffrey M. Navarro, Attorney at Law, but also spent time working for Patterson & Patterson and the Honorable Michael P. Mills. She was also an oil and gas/mortgage title abstractor and spent a large part of her time in Chancery Court record rooms all over the state of Mississippi.
Martha married in 1963 and had two daughters; Catherine Elizabeth Thomas was born November 18, 1966, and Michelynn (Mish) Thomas was born June 3, 1968. She affectionately referred to them as her “girls”, and loved them more than life itself. Martha enjoyed spending ALL of her time being “Lellow”. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grands. Martha loved to play dress up with her grandgirls, host spend the night parties for all of her grandchildren, and was very active and present in all of their extra-curricular activities. She always cheered for and bragged on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with that deep rooted pride that keep grandmothers happy.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Elizabeth Breland; grandson, Russ Walls (Haley); sister, Mary Louise Bunch; great-granddaughters, Kellen Breland, Hayden Walls, and Addie Mae Walls; nephews, Kevin Bunch and Mike Bunch (Angie); and special friends, Cindy Winders, Luanne Thompson, Jeff and Cindy Navarro, and Ann Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her “girls”, Cathy and Mish Thomas.
