Martin LeRoy Davey, age 80 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Freeman Hospital, following complications due to a fall. Martin was born September 10, 1944 in Des Moines, IA to the late Clark and Marjorie (Heilsen) Davey.
Martin graduated high school and attended trade school for mechanics. He started driving Semi's in 1965, where found his passion and worked full time up to his fall in September of 2024, working nearly 60 years. Martin was a member of Joplin Free Methodist (Meadow Ridge Ministries). He collected model trains and was a founding member of the Southern Missouri Model Railroad Association.
Those left to mourn his passing include his significant other, Delores "Jean" Logan of Joplin; daughter, Michelle Killman (Terry) of Beggs, Oklahoma; step son, Thomas Kell; step daughters, Debbie Benson and Christina Roy (Michael); several grandchildren, Annette (Archie), Shawn (Megan),William, Alicia (Andrew), Candice, Jeannie (Logan), Breanna (Dakota), Billy (Allison) and Kevin(Ashley), numerous great- grandchildren; brothers, Robert Davey (Sophie), John Davey (Maggie) and Glenn Davey (Sharon).
In addition his parents, Martin in preceded in death by his wife, Linda; son, Kenneth Davey; brother, Gene Davey and a sister, Linda Davey.
Memorial Services are planned for Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, with visitation to follow the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
