Martin Egeland, 81, of East Grand Forks passed away on Friday April 11, 2025, surrounded by family at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Martin Paul Egeland was born on October 6, 1943, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Nels and Philomene (Feist) Egeland. Martin spent his life living in the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks area. He spent most of his life as an independent truck driver, starting his career as a teen. Martin drove over five million miles in his career without an accident. On October 14, 1967, Martin married Roxine Mero at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks.
In his free time, Martin most loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time playing his guitar, "wrenchin' on the trucks", gardening, and watching NASCAR racing.
He is survived by his wife Roxine Egeland; daughters, Sandi Gador, Lori (Kyle) Gast, Robyn Bies; son Marty (Shannon) Egeland; brothers John Egeland, Wayne Egeland, Michael (Georgia) Egeland, Patrick Egeland; sisters Joann (Bob) Juneau, Diane Legvold; grandchildren Alexis "Lexy" Hartz, Lily Gador, Chloe Torgerson, Reese Gast, Kacey Gast, Bailee Bies, Max Bies, Miley Bies, Wryder Egeland, Anna Egeland, Maddyn Egeland; and great-grandchildren Knox Hartz, and Nash Hartz.
Martin is preceded in death by his parents Nels and Philomene Egeland; brothers Robert Egeland and Kenneth Egeland, and his sister Norma Gregoire.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the VFW or any veteran organization.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:30 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN, 56721.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the Mass at Sacred Heart on Wednesday
INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks, MN immediately following the funeral Mass with Military Honors provided by the East Grand Forks VFW Post #3817 American Legion Post #157, and the MN National Guard
