Mark Schaumburg, born April 22, 1956, in Fosston, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota. He was surrounded by his loving family. A devoted and hardworking individual, Mark's life was marked by dedication to his work and his family.

Mark was a graduate of Mahnomen High School and he furthered his education at Staples Vocational School. He prepared himself for a lifelong career dedicated to craftsmanship. For 42 years, he was a valued employee and mentor at Vigen Construction in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where his work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of others.

Mark’s personal interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He found joy in fishing, gardening, feeding the birds, hunting, and tending to his yard—whether mowing the grass or plowing snow. Known as a skilled handyman, Mark was never afraid to take on a project of any size with his family. He was also known for spending time on the road if that meant supporting his loved ones. He cherished attending his family’s events and creating lasting memories.

Mark and Jane shared over 38 years together. They really enjoyed traveling. One of their favorites was a trip out west to celebrate their retirement, and their most recent was a large family vacation to the Dominican in February. He also treasured time spent on the Prowler, days at the lake, and opportunities to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of life with those he loved.

Mark is survived by his wife Jane; his son Matt and daughter-in-law Mallory, along with their children Ryer and Brantley; his daughter Amanda and her children Mikey, Jake, and Chris. He also leaves behind his siblings Pat Todahl, Sue (Ron) Thorsrud, and Rodney (Gwenn) Schaumburg; brother-in-law Jason (Tara) Erickson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Tylor Schaumburg; his parents John and Dorothy Schaumburg; brothers Dale Schaumburg, Mike Schaumburg, and Butch (Elaine) Schaumburg; Jane’s parents Milton and Beverly Erickson; brothers-in-law Jeff (Arlene) Erickson and Allen Matson; and other extended family members. Their memories remain woven into the fabric of Mark’s life and legacy.

Visitation will be held on March 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, located at 210 Park Avenue in Middle River, MN. This will be followed by a memorial gathering starting at 11:00 a.m. We will celebrate his life with lunch and fellowship to follow.

Mark Schaumburg’s life was one of commitment—to his work, to his family, and to the values that defined him. His legacy of hard work, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to share in his journey.
