Martin Fricke, aged 86, of San Diego California died at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, CA on February 9th, 2024.
He was born on May 18, 1937, in Franklin, Pennsylvania to the late Albert and Pauline Fricke. Martin, a Ph.D. in physics and mathematics, was a Senior Fellow of the American Physical Society and did research in nuclear physics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He later became a Corporate Officer of R&D companies in San Diego, including SAIC and The Titan Corp, where he managed special programs for the Director of National Intelligence, the CIA, DOD, DOE, DOC, and the Army, Navy and Air Force.
After early retirement at age 55, Martin served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Catholic Diocese of San Diego. His interests included studies of general relativity and quantum theory and the relationship of science and religion. He enjoyed fishing, physical fitness, guitar, target shooting, and international travel.
Martin Fricke is survived by his wife Barbara of San Diego, his brother William "Bill" Fricke and wife Dixie of Exton, PA., his two sisters Sally Singley of Peabody, MA and Joan Burman of Bellmawr, NJ, brother and sister-in law Lynn and Marquita Blanton of Oak Ridge, TN, brother and sister-in-law Glynn and Kris Blanton of Thompsons Station, TN, and many nephews and nieces.
On Thursday February 22, the family will receive friends at St. Mary's Catholic Church starting at 10:00 a.m. The funeral Mass with Father Neil Blatchford, will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be immediately following, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
