Martin Harvey Halpern

Martin H. Halpern, 84, of Beverly, entered into rest on Friday July 19th surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Jaffe) Halpern. The oldest of two sons, Marty often worked in downtown Beverly at his father's fruit store. He was a 1959 graduate of Beverly High School.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he met his wife, Madeline (Chambrello) Halpern. He worked at Universal Steel and Trading Corporation in Salem for over 32 years. As an avid sports enthusiast, he coached youth football for eight years, Little League for 25 years, and was inducted into the Beverly Little League Hall of Fame.
Marty and Madie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. During the summer, he could often be found relaxing by the ocean at Lynch Park. In his retirement when he would watch his grandchildren at the beach, he would nickname their time as "Camp Papa".
Martin is survived by his loving wife Madeline (Chambrello) Halpern of Beverly; his daughter, Karen Ayotte and her husband, Charlie of Troy, NY; daughter in law Kristen of Salem; daughter Sandra Drewniak and her husband Jonathan of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two sons, Richard Halpern of Windham, NH; Robert Halpern and his wife, Bree of Beverly; one brother, Howard Halpern of Salem; ten grandchildren, Tyler, Sarah, Alicia, Victoria, Corinne, Derek, Andrew, Kyle, Justin and Charlie IV; ten great grandchildren Carter, Avery, Brady, Charleigh, Ryan, Jack, Ethan, Gracelynn, Connor and Elliott, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, David Halpern.
Madie was very thankful for the care Marty received at Element Care in Beverly and at Care One in Peabody.
