Martin was born November 17, 1929 taken home October 28, 2024. He was the youngest of 7 children born to William Albert and Grace L. Leyrer in Holt, MI. He was one of the youngest graduated from high school at age 16 and Michigan State College at 20 years old. He graduated with a Civil Engineer's degree. He married Rose Marie Riker on June 23,1951 then moved to Alma, MI.
They have 3 children Gary (Emy in heaven) Pamela, and Brian (Pava) Leyrer. He has 19 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter and numerous family and friends. Martin and Rose joined Grace Ev. Lutheran church after moving to Muskegon in1961.
He was devoted to his faith and family, always serving in some capacity. He especially loved being a greeter in the later years.
Martin worked for the City of Muskegon, owned his own engineering business and became committed to Builders for Christ for 42 projects until their last project when Martin was 88 years old. He was a devoted and loving husband to his "bride", caring father, and dedicated grandfather sharing his faith and humor with everyone.
The fellowship will be Nov 9 10:00 to 11:00, then the service and following the service will be a lunch.

In lieu of flowers please give a memorial to Grace Lutheran Church, 2651 Shettler Rd, Muskegon, MI 49441 in Martin's name.
