Mr. Martin Sanford Jones, age 77 of LaFollette peacefully slipped into the arms of his savior on Saturday, December 14, 2024 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on February 13, 1947 to John Paul and Lillie Vireda (Bailey) Jones. He was of the holiness faith and attended Ivy Dell Church. A loving and devoted husband, dad and Papaw/Poppy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sharing the gospel with others and most of all his great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Kay Smiddy, great-granddaughter, Peyton Alexis McCartney, his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Rosella (Phillips) Jones, daughters and sons-in-law Becky and Glen McNeely, and LeAnn and Cliff Chadwell, grandchildren Aleena and Nathan Sharp, Anna and Kyle Bowes, B.J. Smiddy, Jeremy Smiddy, and Bri and Zach Holcombe, great-grandchildren, Branson, Binzleigh, Scarlett, Millie, Callen, Hadley, Gryffin and Sawyer, brother, Eddie Jones, sisters, Mary Ruth Anderson and Darlene Williams, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 PM with Rev. Monroe Johnson and Rev. Roland Ayers officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his honor to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
